Life Patterns, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation in the state of Kansas assisting individuals with a disability and their parent or guardian who have chosen Medicaid Recipient Directed Care* as their service delivery system.

The purpose of Life Patterns, Inc. is to promote quality life styles for persons with a disability through the provision of service administration and individualized planning.  The overall philosophy of Life Patterns, Inc. is to emphasize opportunities of choice, person-centered planning, independence, integration, and inclusion into the community for persons with a disability.

Life Patterns is managed by parents of young adults with a disability.  This provides first-hand experience in educating the person with a disability and his/her guardian about the concept of self-direction and hiring and supervising personal care assistants.  Through individual counseling, a quarterly newsletter, and workshops the staff of Life Patterns, Inc. work to promote plans of care where individual choices are honored.

Life Patterns also provides payroll services for Supportive Home Care, Respite Care, Night Support, and Limited Licenses.  Life Patterns withholds all applicable Federal, State, and Social Security taxes for the individual worker as well as providing worker's compensation insurance, liability and unemployment insurance as required by law.

*Recipient Directed Care (also known as Self-Directed Care) is an option chosen to make decisions about who to hire as a personal care assistant, what duties the assistant will have, what hours the assistant will work, and the training needed.  The individual and/or the parent or guardian have control over the services received with the Medicaid dollars.rslight
